JEFF JOHNSON, CPA, MST
Jeff earned his accounting degree from San Francisco State University in 1985 and his Master’s degree in Taxation from Golden Gate University in 1992. Jeff started his accounting career as the first staff accountant for a local and successful bank, earning his way to Assistant Controller and eventually Assistant Vice President and Internal Audit Manager. After earning his tax degree, he entered the world of public accounting, eventually joining ZZRJ in 1999, becoming partner in 2005.
Jeff oversees business management and tax compliance for a variety of successful musicians, including tour reporting, royalty accounting, and managing cash flows. Jeff specializes in business management and complex multi-state tax returns for professional athletes, currently overseeing more than 125 athletes (over 600 returns filed) primarily from the worlds of basketball, baseball, and football, and extending to include Olympic athletes, professional golfers, boxers, and extreme sports. In addition, Jeff oversees accounting services, including bill pay, write-up and “prepared” financial statements for individuals and a variety of small businesses.
Jeff and his wife Kathy live in Novato, share three daughters and (currently) six grandchildren. If Jeff is not at his desk or remodeling his home, you can likely find him high up on a mountain somewhere.
