JEFF JOHNSON, CPA, MST
Jeff earned his accounting degree from San Francisco State University in 1985 and his Master's degree in Taxation from Golden Gate University in 1995. Jeff started his accounting career as the first staff accountant for a local and successful bank, earning his way to Assistant Controller and eventually AVP and Internal Audit Manager. After earning his tax degree, he entered the world of public accounting, eventually joining ZZRJ in 1999, becoming partner in 2005.
Jeff specializes in business management and the complex multi-state tax world of professional athletes and musicians. Jeff currently prepares returns for over 100 professional athletes, equating to approximately 1,000 returns filed annually, primarily in the "big three" sports of basketball, baseball, and football. Jeff's athlete clients extend to include Olympic athletes, professional golfers, boxers, and extreme sport athletes. Jeff also oversees the business management and tax compliance for a variety of successful musicians, including tour reporting, royalty accounting, and managing cash flow. In addition, Jeff also oversees accounting services, including bill pay, write-up and compilation, and reviewed and audited financial statements, for both individuals and a variety of small businesses.
Jeff and his wife Kathy live in Novato and although they have three daughters, are currently "empty nesters." If Jeff is not at his desk or remodeling his home, you can probably find him high up on a mountain somewhere.
